United Airlines will bid farewell to its fleet of iconic Boeing 747 jumbo jets by this year end, against earlier plan to retire the fleet by the end of 2018.
With the advent of fuel efficient and cost-effective twin jets like the Boeing 787, the four engined 747s have become expensive to operate.
